Nicky is a painter, writer, teacher, compiler, producer and highly respected DJ where she has been performing for over 18 years. She currently produces The World Show on Kaya FM 95.9. People both locally and internationally tune in to enjoy her mix of urban, archival, deeply rooted, contemporary and cutting edge sounds. Her knowledge of African and Latin music is particularly extensive. As a pioneer of the “Public Art Movement” she began painting murals in 1990, and produced and facilitated over 70 public art works in South Africa and abroad. As an educator she has facilitated courses on African Music and African Radio and is involved in developing curriculum on African and World Music. She has been a judge for the Kora All African Music Awards and the South African Music Awards and is often invited as a panelist speaker for seminars. As a writer she is a regular contributor for notable publications, both locally, internationally and throughout the continent.
